Who was using the callsign "2" in 1964?
Several amateurs in the 60's had their first taste of real 'on-the-air' operation through their school's combined cadet force (CCF) radio network. This operated on a number of fixed frequencies (each designated by a pair of letters such as WL for 4030 kHz).

While at school at Beaumont College in the early 60's G3TXF used the school CCF station which had the callsign of "2" on the national CCF network.

The above QSL was kindly provided by Angus G3TXL (who was at "40c").

Incidentally some 35 years later the very same location (Beaumont College in Old Windsor, Berkshire) became the venue for the RSGB's annual HF Convention.
